Australian Shepherd dogs were examined ophthalmoscopically and had findings similar to those ofthe Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) found in the Collie dog. Subsequent examination of the pedigrees, as well as test breeding, indicated an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance.

オーストラリアン・シェパード・ドッグに眼底検査を行い、コリー種に認められるコリー眼異常（Collie Eye Anomaly：以下、CEA)に似た所見を示した。さらなるペディグリー検査や繁殖テスト等の追加検査は常染色体劣性遺伝の様式を示した。
